Sent in my answer with some trepidation; as soon as I did, I thought of something else and now I'm 100% certain in my answer.

I submitted my answer. I feel very confident! Nicely done meta.

Like Al....had some trepidation about submitting what I knew must be the answer. Then I found what I needed to make it a dead cert submission.

Nice, easy meta.
Well, not as easy as I had imagined (Never is with PGW). Back to the grid.

I was pretty sure with my answer (sent in but not confirmed) but after reading this thread I'm less so. At least I must have missed something; I should know that PGW metas are always 100%. I'll continue looking.

Got it, I believe. Saw the other thing—100% now. I really enjoy Peter’s puzzles—now if only there was a mug

I see what strongly suggests the answer, but not, yet, what makes it a 100% lock. So I’ll keep looking for a while.

Got it following a solving experience similar to others. Excellent puzzle and 100%.

I have half of the answer, but haven't found a path to the other half. I could make an educated guess (that I am trying to backsolve to), but don't want to waste PGW's time with those. Still plenty of time before the WSJ comes out in a couple of days.

With a kind nudge from another solver (thanks, Jay!), I got the whole thing, including what confirms it.
Very nice puzzle! Good work, Peter G.!

Took me a long time to get that second part, but quite satisfying when I did! Loved it.

Got the “second half” after the often needed night’s sleep. This second part should have come with a requirement to “show your work.” Very nice, PGW.
HIs metas are worthy of consideration by the WSJ, I think. Is there a way of getting him an introduction or on their radar?
Also, could someone PM me with an explanation for 80D?

We'd have much better odds of winning if PGW gave a prize! PGW stickers would be cheap to mail.....

Well that clears thing up a bit. For the grid at least.Richard B. wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 1:06 pm FWIW, PGW corrected the clue for 80D so that it now reads “Hard water?”
