I won the WSJ mug on the very last puzzle for 2018, “Go Haywire”!

No mug, but I DID eke out a 12-month Harper's subscription by being one of three randomly selected winners for the "Old News" cryptic in the magazine's January 2009 issue. It's been a loooooooong drought since then, though, so Al's regular Guinness references are enjoyed quite literally.

Seems by the standards posted here I was incredibly lucky to win a mug after only 40 or so correct submissions!!
I posted this query on this week’s thread: can you win the mug twice? No one posting here seems to have.
Kudos to all of you with so much swag!!

2018 was a lucky year for us! Won 02-18-2018 with "Spielberg" and 10-01-2018 with "Refer".

I want you to know that I hate all you mug winners.
Not really, just extremely jealous.

Didn't know a list was in the making. Got mine October 2017 when answers spelled out LOGAN airport (aptly my home town!).
'tis... A lovely day for a Guinness!

Mug winner for WSJ Leading Men, 10/4/19. Answer: HOST
Very pleasant surprise right after arriving home from a long trip to South Africa.

Have been trying since the beginning for a WSJ mug - no luck yet. Thrilled after a couple years to be lucky enough to win the final MMMM mug of 2019!

I won the WSJ mug after about 70 correct entries (a little over a year of trying), but the week that I won there were only 200 correct answers, so that helped. The mug arrived with the handle broken off, so I superglued it back on and use it to store pencils (rather than drink from). I won the first MMMM mug of 2020, only my 13th entry.

I won the WSJCC mug for the October 11, 2019 puzzle — solution: MOLTEN LAVA CAKE. I gloated a bit here on the forum, then gloated big time to the family, especially through the holidays, saying, “See that place on the mantel? That’s where my mug will go.” But I still haven’t gotten my mug! Around that time I had finally switched to a personal gmail address (from my old business email address), so it’s possible this had something to do with the problem. They may have sent the mug to our old, now closed business office! The street address for that may have still been in the signature of the email template I used to submit my answer to the October 11 puzzle. Anyway ... Is there someone I can contact at WSJ? Maybe they’d send another mug. I WANT MY MUG!!!!!

If you're a subscriber, you could just post on the blog there; Mike will see it when he reports the results.ChrisKochmanski wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 6:41 pm I won the WSJCC mug for the October 11, 2019 puzzle — solution: MOLTEN LAVA CAKE. Or you could email puzzles@wsj.com
(I believe that gmail address Joe posted is Matt Gaffney's not WSJ.)
