Note that the original puzzle has been updated because one clue had an error. (The error was mine, not Kate's!) No affect on the meta other than to avoid any possible confusion.

Here's Kylo, the Killer Golden Doodle. He's our grand-dog. (No way Lynne and I are adult enough to take proper care of a pooch.) It's tough on us that Kylo lives eight hours away. Worse, due to COVID-19, we haven't been able to see him in the doggie flesh since early March.
