PCC#3 "Your Infernal Majesty" (Aug. 14, 2023)

#1

Post by pchow13 »

Finally getting around to posting my old puzzles here on this forum.

Please see below for PCC#3 - "Your Infernal Majesty" originally posted on Crosshare with intended date of publication of 08/14/23

[Level 1.5] Meta prompt: The answer to the meta is a chart-topping Shania Twain country song that would make a good fifth theme entry

Note: the level is the intended difficulty I had in mind when I designed the puzzle, but may play differently since every solver has their own area of expertise... what one person may find easy, another may find difficult.

Have fun and keep in mind if you're ever lost at sea, google is your best friend (actually, I don't know if you'd get internet service in the middle of the ocean)

Note: The Crosshare version of the puzzle lists this as "Puzzle #69" (PCC#3)... this is NOT part of the meta - I used to number my non-meta puzzles and continued my numbering system before transitioning over to meta puzzles

Nudges below:

Hint #1: The four theme answers are the four longest answers

Hint #2: They all have something in common that relates to 71A

Hint #3: Search for "Shania Twain songs" and look for a song that shares this common property.... The song is from 1997

Solution below - SPOILER ALERT:

Answer explanation: Theme of the puzzle is YIM, whose name is hidden in the four entries: HEAV[YIM]PACT, FUZZ[YIM]AGE, VER[YIM]PURE, CHEV[YIM]PALA... the meta answer is the Shania Twain song that also has this text string: HONE[YIM]HOME... so the solution is "Honey, I'm Home"
