I'm looking for a word I knew at one time, but has now slipped my mind and I can't get it back. It's a fancy word meaning to raucously celebrate, and I believe it is primarily used in its gerund form, with an -ing ending. The word is derived from the name a town that famously had a wild celebration when they found out a war had ended or perhaps that a battle had been won. Maybe a town in the UK, but perhaps not.

Does that ring a bell for anybody? I'm hoping the Muggles can help me out because Google hasn't been able to.

I did not know this off the top of my head. But typing *:raucously celebrating (translation: give me all words whose definitions are close to "raucously celebrating") into OneLook did the trick.

Yes, that's it! Thank you. I'm not familiar with OneLook, but now I have to check it out.

I forget where I heard it originally, but I thought it was such an evocative word for a whole population celebrating that it was too good to lose.
