MGWCC #824 — Friday, March 15th, 2024 — “It Takes One”

THIS WEEK’S INSTRUCTIONS:

This week’s contest answer is a five-letter part of the body.

CORRECTION:

Dear Solver,

In the clue to 8-Across in today's puzzle, "Fred" should be replaced with "William" (so both ice-cream magnates are named William, it turns out).

Not meta-related, just an error.

Great puzzle! I had to make my message longer because otherwise it just looks like a blank area…

On the board at #5. Funny when you know what you are looking for and it still takes a while to find!

I'm waiting to submit until I figure out how to solve the meta.

Beamed!

Really liked this one. This, plus Mike Shenk's "Flight of Fancy" at WSJCC, has made it an excellent puzzling weekend already.

Would have been pretty high on the list if I'd started on time, but current time zone made that less likely. Grid took longer than the meta (though the grid was a bit tough).

Awaiting the beam... [Fun one!]

... and I'm beamed at #63. :D
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

Awaiting beam, had the right idea but was overcomplicating it. Thanks to @ajk for gently nudging in the right direction.

Good.... Lord....

Nothing is working this weekend.
Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

I think I've got it. There was one last think to make it feel okay. But I think I'm missing something. It's only a 72%er and there are a lot of weak deer trails.
