MGWCC #820 — Friday, February 16th, 2024 — “Hand to Mouth”

Today's puzzle is Week 3 of 4 in February (but it's more like a Week 2 in difficulty since last week's played tough).

Instructions:

This week's contest answer is a two-word phrase often spoken on the Las Vegas Strip.

Good luck!

Hmm, did I beat MikeyG and docison?

[edit: Yes, the Avis badge is mine!]

It definitely took me a bit to see what I needed to see. Taking the pewter medal this week. Good luck, all!

Looks like MikeyG wasn't too far behind - but I can confirm that you left me in the dust, as I am still wandering in the desert and utterly baffled. Nice solve!

Same. Look, we all know Matt's Week 2-meter is broken, but yeesh.
Happy to give nudges. If you notice I've solved, please tell me about avenues you've explored so I can nudge you in the right direction and not off a cliff.

Awaiting the beam! In retrospect, I can kinda see why this might have been a week 2? But it is definitely not a week 2. 😂

It's not a bug, it's a feature.

Like a Week 1 with an impossible Down Only solve.

Only better.

Fun, challenging group solve. SAD is a good description.

Got there with a nudge (which was something I had tried in a different way from the get-go). Not at all a fan of this one, sorry to say.

Solved with the Discord gang. Had tried a close variant of the right thing, but couldn’t make it work. Phew.

This Week 2 feels harder than last week's Week 2. If anyone wants to PM me a nudge, it would be treasured. 🙌🏻

I just picked this up and got it immediately. Has to do with another crossword I once solved but I don't think I can provide more details.

Awaiting the beam... [Group solved with a bunch of Discorders. Nice to get that one out of the way!]

... and I'm beamed at #42. :D

Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

I think I got it solo. But I'm not sure. But it's got to be. But I don't love it. But what if...

Beamed after co-solving with a few muggles. I wouldn’t call it a fun solve exactly. But that’s how metas roll sometimes.
