On shore after leaving Isaac a large tip for spending Thursday evening and all of yesterday at the bar.
Good luck to all on winning the mug!

Side note--I use Firefox, and within the past month, I can't do the puzzles in that browser, due to their lack of support for Java. No biggie, figured I'd just do it on my iPhone X--slightly more cumbersome, but still, no biggie. On those rare occasions when I solve the meta, I found I can't submit an answer. I've tapped every menu, and can't find a place to submit an answer anywhere.

As such, I end up doing these puzzles in Edge, and (third time's the charm), no biggie. I'm far from a technophobe, having used laptops since 1994 and crunching sports data in a manner that is far from healthy, but I just find these little quirks odd. Nowhere near insurmountable, just odd.
There’s no place in the app to submit. You just send an email to crosswordcontest@wsj.com with the answer in the subject line.

It may depend on what is meant by "the app".

If you play online on a PC, you can consider this button, "the app":

3rd tac wsj page.gif

After solving, you can click on "Submit", which gives a form that allows you to submit your answer:

3rd tac wsj submit.gif

Like Scott, I can only access the Submit form using the Edge browser. I also use Firefox, typically.

EDIT: I do not have an issue accessing the SUBMIT form nor submitting the meta answer using my android phone.

I was giving up all hope, but sleeping on it (or trying to, anyway!) finally did it. Fun puzzle!

keep trying ... remember, "THIRD TIME'S THE CHARM". It's all there on the grid.

NVMD, you're on the beach, just feeling ignored by Bob's list.

It's ok, we still like you.

Out of 5? Is 2 better than 1?
As I understand the rating system, 2 is harder than 1.

yes

This was about a 1.5 or so ... last week was a 1 (and I blew it by only submitting "TED", not the full "TED TALKS". Shame on me)

5 is the hardest/highest score on the scale.

There's more on this here: forums/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=35

My humble apologies. I remember reading and commenting on your getting ready for the power to go out because there was a storm coming into 150 miles north of 4D and commenting that you are in Maine Marge territory, that I forgot to enter you in the spreadsheet. My shame

Any way to edit our star difficulty rating? Just discovered by fat fingering that you can rate a puzzle a zero! :o
Ashore
Also ashore last week but I didn’t know Bob was tracking a record! Hopefully we’ll break it this week so my tardiness won’t matter.

in my "on shore" posting, I reported I was 99%. After reflection, I realized, yes, 100%.

I’m still finding most of these metas really difficult, so I’m happy to be on shore today!
