Happy New Year, Muggles. After several weeks of total frustration--and no solutions--I had this one before finishing the grid. And even if it turns out to be an exercise in "Pageanting" I'm submitted and find myself on the beach. Nice to see everyone.

Stress-free New Year to all of you! :D
I'm going to start mine off by NOT trying to solve this one.
Know NOTHING about a series on Youtube, so wouldn't have a clue where to start.
No chance of a mug for me this week, but I did see a pretty Godiva coffee mug half off on the Christmas mark-downs.
Maybe I'll splurge!

I hope you will at least work the grid. You might be surprised and have the answer jump out at you. Sometimes we don't know what we know.
Often, when I am watching Jeopardy, I will spout out a correct response and say "Now where did that come from."

On shore. At least (like others) I think I am. An easy one to start out the year?

Happy New Year, all.

Done and done. Should be pretty stiff competition for the mug, and in honor of the upcoming caucuses in my home state of Iowa, I nominiate...ME to win.

Thank you for your support.

...and if this IS a pageant, I fear this may become the #1 film in muggledom next week ;)

Matt Gaffney Must Die
a p.s to this earlier post:

I learned about this movie on Thursday when MG tweeted about it. Hmmm. The same day this contest was published online... ??

But I am 99.9% confident my post is not a spoiler - altho I found the movie on youtube, as far as I can tell it's not part of any series. And it's NOT the answer I submitted. Nope, don't want to send an email to WSJ with THAT subject line!

That's fantastic, Janet! You are generous and dedicated! Plus you"ve made 2019 a very good year for several people. :D

I've had 3 rare bad sticks in the last two years. I'll be back on track January 24th.

Hi SewYoung. I did the puzzle and thought it was a fun one! Only spell-checked one answer. I've never watched a series on Youtube, so I feel I'm at a disadvantage because of that. Maybe it IS as easy as it looks? Even I have a guess. Maybe I will submit it. Like I said before, how can I win a mug if I don't submit a guess?
BTW, I bought the Godiva mug. ;)

On shore! I almost didn't attempt this one, given the subject, but glad I did.

I knew we had someone from the great state of Iowa. 34 states represented - 16 to go

I did not even know that there were series on YouTube. Solve the grid and the answer will jump out at you - with a little help from Mr. G to confirm

Ashore. Unbelievably easy, maybe as suggested by 5D, which is to say the simplest solution if often the correct one. We will see. Good luck Muggles.

Oh, thank you! I thought I was the only one who wasn't hip to series Youtube fare.
I usually only watch Youtube when I want to learn how to make something (i.e. sewing and quilting) or how to fix something, and there's usually someone out there that can show me how. Love it!
