MEOW #160 Musical Chair

A weekly meta crossword on the forum started by member Josh (aka madhatter5). These puzzles are often very creative with solving mechanisms out of the norm and skewing towards the more challenging. Puzzles are posted every Wednesday, and the solution appears the following Tuesday.

So glad you played the game until the end and ended up getting a chair!

I doubt they are needed, but I promised sooo.

Nudges:

Well obviously "music" is part of it. Do you see any well-known (and I suppose for the sake of argument, "retro") songs in the Grid?

What is the more formal title for a "Chair"?

Check out the fedora on the guy in front of the chair. Any singer famous for his fedora?

Clues 50A and 65D were meant to be "Easter Eggs"

Clue 50A was SUPPOSED to be "Pack animal" and somehow I changed it in editing - drat!

If all else fails play the music shown on the graphic!

While we wait for the MG I got three more solvers:

53 SteveM
54 DebbieC
55 edestlin

This is probably the last update because I'll be traveling and I don't know how proficient I am with phone text (and yes that sounds like something I am probably also not proficient at). However, I will try to keep track and if not over the holiday then at least on Wednesday evening.

I’ll post the official, graphic, reveal tomorrow but this one is easy enough to do with text.

There are 7 songs in the grid:
Summer Wind
My Way
High Hopes
Something Stupid
New York New York (NY, NY)
That’s Life
Fly Me to the Moon

All sung by Frank Sinatra the CHAIRman of the Board. The clues to those songs spell SINATRA. There was also RAT as in RAT PACK and DEAN as in Dean Martin. Also the man in front of the chair in the graphic has on Sinatra fedora, and the music in the graphic…My Way

There were over 50 of you who spent at least part of your Christmas Holiday with my puzzle and I thank you all. Tomorrow’s puzzle will be released a little late because I am traveling but it should be up by 5 or 6 PM.

I always forget that nickname, which is why I was thinking "What does 'throne' have to do with Sinatra?"

Solved the puzzle without nudges, and I completely missed this! (But I saw the notes in the graphic!)

Probably not needed, but here is the graphic:
Musical Chair Graphic Reveal.jpg
Easter Eggs of Frank and blue eyes and well as those that referred to his member ship in the RAT pack and friendship with DEAN. The "Oldies" reference was to get people away from more modern singers.

The final count was 56 solvers! Thank you all.
