On the beach! Good to spend the weekend without a furrowed brow and chewing on a pencil.

Still struggling. I'm on to something promising but just can't seem to make it work.

Edit: Just got it. Wow, what an amazing construction!

Ashore! Found the answer with some holes in it and then backsolved. Very clever and enjoyable meta.

Just came from visiting Santa with daughter and grandkids. It was memorable. The line was a mile long, and Santa was unusually loquacious and accommodating to parental requests for an inordinate number of photos, thus tripling the time spent in line. The kids were pushing each other and fighting, leading to the usual threats that Santa will see how bad you are and not bring you any presents. When we finally reached him, my 2-year-old grandson, Hudson, would have none of it. He howled and held his mom in a death grip as she tried to bring him up. Santa suggested I sit on his lap with the other 2 kids to show Hudson he was safe. Hmmm...

A belated report due to the rare Patriots win (sorry Steelers fans) and other things this morning.

So far we have 1 on the ship and 122 on the shore.

Full report tomorrow
That one *really* hurt :(

Finally ashore. Vastly overcomplicated it even after logically construing the mechanism. Another fun one from the master!

There have been several weeks where I tried something *after* the thing that had worked, not being fully convinced it worked. :P

Hey all, first day aboard, first day ashore!

(Well, first "solo flight" - I let the 101 Course on WSJ coach me through the four lessons)

Had to celebrate with someone since no one at work knew or cared what it was.

Late to declare I made it to shore. Thanks to an initial nudge from Don (ship4u) and a further nudge from about 42 solving ZooMuggles. Thanks, all.

Have a great weekend.

Yes. I come here with satisfaction to say "ashore". At home, alas, wife and son know me and my ways, and w.r.t contest crossword "no one knew or cared what it was". They are tired of hearing all about it! Look at this! Wonderful construction! Genius cleverness! Shenk! Gaffney! Barry! . . . . Just get eye rolls and yawns now. But it's all good. And they know it too.

You have found your tribe! Welcome!
If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.

(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)
