MEOW #158 Can't See the Forest for the Trees

A weekly meta crossword on the forum started by member Josh (aka madhatter5). These puzzles are often very creative with solving mechanisms out of the norm and skewing towards the more challenging. Puzzles are posted every Wednesday, and the solution appears the following Tuesday.

Another "conceived while walking meta", and hopefully a true Kitten. I had three people test this and all got it immediately and all thought it not terribly challenging but fun. Oh, and you don't have to worry about something sounding like something else, no audibles need be called. So, I'll let you embark on your journey, leaf you alone and hope you won't get stumped or you'll try to break my limb....AH tree puns, gotta love em!

With that in mind:

KITTEN
Calico
Persian
Puma
Lion

Thank you to my testers: @Meg, @Whimsy and @Snood

Well if you do then you must appreciate Crosshare. Nobody likes to wait to see if they are correct, and before we all started using Crosshare that is exactly what you had to do. You either PMed the constructor or waited for the reveal. There was no, “well gosh I must have the mechanism wrong, let me look again and retry”, nope you were just right or wrong. Crosshare has enriched our solving, and with metas now Sunday – Wednesday and every other Saturday that is at least 18 times a month you are using it. If it is worth $0.50 each time to you to be able to do that, please consider a $9 monthly donation to this independently run website and program. If it had to go away we would miss it immensely; a donation (monthly or not) of any amount helps support this valuable tool: https://crosshare.org/donate
NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges IF ASKED; metas should be about fun, not frustration. PM me what you have done so far, because often you are closer than you think, and I will try to help you move along.

Cat's out, and enjoying the forest!
Check out "The MOAT Mini Pack of Marching Bands" here. US$5 gets you 7 Marching Bands which, hard enough on their own, now contain metas too. And once again there's a mega-meta! :D

Kay, my cat asked me.."how did she get a picture of me in a tree? I don't do trees, I do couches!!!"

Got the meta. But trying to figure out the magic eye image of your banner gave me a headache.
