"Marked Deck" December 1, 2023
Welcome back from Thanksgiving.
This week's contest is titled MARKED DECK | By Matt Gaffney
The answer to this week’s contest crossword is something a cheater does.

Good luck with the grid and the meta
Many of our muggle family use Crosshare to assist them in creating and solving metas, both for the WSJ contest and many others. Like this site, Crosshare survives on the generous time of Mike Dirolf, the creator, but like every site, there are some financial expenses. Mike Dirolf is making a request for funding to keep the site going. He posted this on his weekly email:
"Crosshare will be entering its fifth(!) year this spring, and it has survived and thrived as a free and open source community thanks to our generous donors. While donations have usually been enough to keep the lights on without me stepping in, this December I've decided to run a donation campaign to try to get the community on slightly firmer financial footing. Starting tomorrow you'll see a banner on the top of the homepage asking for your help. The goal for the month is to get $100/month in new recurring donations - that should help to plan for costs in the year ahead. Click here for information on how to donate: https://crosshare.org/donate
I'll keep everyone posted on our progress towards that goal in the weekly emails this month. Thank you in advance for your support, and happy solving! - Mike"
Even if you do not use Crosshare, if you solve the MMM, SSS, MOAT or MEOW consider donating as the constructors benefit thus all of us solvers benefit from the site. Whatever you can contribute will be more than welcome.

On shore without cheating! Do they serve eggnog at the Tiki Bar?
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.
