Don't Know Much About History

Formerly known as the “Sunday Summer Substitute”, editor Cap'n Rick now takes the helm for 'Smooth Sailing Sundays'. As The Commodores sang about Sunday morning, the SSS will focus on easier metas. SSS will also support smaller grids and will mentor new constructors on request. Puzzles released each Sunday around 8am Eastern. Nudges released same day at Noon Eastern. New constructors are welcome.

Great puzzle. My mom would always have the oldies station (104.3 WJMK) on in the car and I heard this song constantly! Still love it.

After spending too much time making it more complicated than it was meant to be, I finally got it. Thanks, @Cap'n Rick for a very nice puzzle! It was nice having a pleasant alternative whilst we await the delayed Gaffney.

The title had me playing the old song of the same name in my head. That led me to wonder if 14A was put in for a reason!

I'm afraid I "don't know much about" that subject either, @ship4u.

SSSolved without nudges but with LOTS of incorrect variations of the answer. Typical Cap'n meta with great fill, plenty of hidden nudges and a novel mechanism. Ummm good!
NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!

Me!
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!
