But if you don't, I hope there's not a flap. Because boxes have flaps. Moving right along...

Muggles of the world, let's rock! We have our first of two Mikey G metas this month as we get ready for the three-quarters century mark! Looking forward to hit meta #100 sometime next year!

This one should play around a Level 2.5 or 3. Shout-out to @CPJohnson and @KayW for test-solving!

---

74. I Hear You're Hosting

The answer to the meta is a notable American personality.

Deadline is Saturday, November 18 at 1 pm ET.

Good luck, and may all your solves be beautiful!

Fun one! Thanks, MikeyG. :D
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

Another gem. I thought this “Level 3” was friendlier than Gaffney’s last Week 1 and 2.
The site is just a web page, a meeting place, a clubhouse - it's the group that's special.

Fun. Calling it a 2.
Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

The MP3 at the .puz link on your blog wouldn't play. I eventually found the .puz on Crosshare. Still working on the meta.

Solved it backwards, but got there in the end! I think level 3 is fair.

I think we have a nice course correction on this one after a bit bumpier #73. We're at 37 correct answers so far, on track to get to the half-century mark by Saturday with hopefully some spillover.

Nudges, if you need them, coming on Wednesday!

NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!

We're up to 40 solves, so let's see if nudges will bring us over the half-century mark!

1. The title is always important in a meta, of course, and we see "hosts" directly in the clue for EMCEES.

2. What does EMCEE sound like? Think single letters of the alphabet!

3. You might not have even gone that path if you've noticed the clues (@Abide says you should always start with the clues for my metas, though this won't always help!). A lot of clues seem similar in how they're constructed!

4. There are 10 across clues that have the same two initials, which you may have gleaned by now!

5. Once you have these 10 entries, the prompt of "hearing" does come into play again!

6. See if you can ascertain some clues and phrases from stringing the sounds of these entries.

7. The first three are one clue, the last seven are another clue. Each clue gives us a name of the mystery personality!

Rock and roll! Good luck on the WSJ and MGWCC for those who participate!
