A surprising #1 on the Board with a 12:06 submission. Must have been inspired by the Muggle meet-up last night!

Name Correct Entry Received
1. docison 💯 11/03 - 12:06
2. JanglerNPL ㉌ 11/03 - 12:06
3. Hector ㉕ 11/03 - 12:09
4. Joe Ross 11/03 - 12:09

This was my best chance at #1. I had the right idea at 12:02, but didn't follow-up on it as I did after wasting time on other entries.

WELL DONE, @docison! 🥳🏆

Finally grokked it in the top ten after who knows how many rabbit holes. Great job so far, everyone!

One way to avoid the "Week 2 curse" is to perhaps have a Week 1 that plays like a Week 2 and then have an adjusted Week 2 that's like a Week 1. To remind you of last month's, dam!

But fun puzzles nonetheless. Thankful to be part of this community!

Both the WSJ and MGWCC beating me today, need a break.

I appreciate a week 1 that has some meat to it. It's nice to solve quickly, but if it's just seeing that GOLDENGATE, CHINATOWN, etc., are San Francisco things, or that the themers have words starting with N Y C, then IMO that's not well suited to this actual audience.

Thanks for two meta ideas.

This is a week one?

Lesson to me... give up on trying down onlys (this was a weird month to do it in for obvious reasons). It just overfocuses your mind that you blind yourself to the forest.... Unless this is actually a difficult one.

Or... wait... no, don't see it. Or with last weeks and this weeks WSJ and now this one has my cardinal rule gone out the window? I dunno. But I don't have this week one.

Wait... I know what to do... I'll get back to you in a half hour or three days. EDIT: Well, that was a bust. Completely and totally stuck.... on a week one.

Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

In at number 47. The so-called easy WSJ is still eluding me, though.

Um... so far as I can tell nobody is claiming the WSJ is easy.

However, by the very definition of "week 1" this utterly perplexing and impenetrable MGWCC is supposed to be.

Finally! Waiting for the beam. I did take issue with a small detail that seems to me as a pretty big oversight, although I'm sure I'm missing something clever that clears things up.

Edit: thanks boharr for showing me what I missed, it was in fact clever!

This audience is actually composed of solvers of all skill levels, some of whom find it very demoralizing to fail to solve a week one.

Beamed up though.
