Finally!! Read the nudges and had seen all of that, but one little detail in the first nudge made me take another look at something I had already tried, and …. Avast! Thar she blows! (Did someone else already use that pirate speak on this one?)

OTC and relieved to be so. Was feeling quite dumb.

Read the nudges this morning and got myself off the couch at last! I'd been on the right track, but didn't go far enough. Should have been inspired by Dr. Cousteau!

Shiver me timbers! It's time for the reveal...

The answer to the meta is "something found in a pirate's plunder." So...

Since sunken treasure is found "under the sea" and 6D & 42D suggest that you should
"plumb the depths" to the "sea floor", you should locate the seven Cs ("seven seas")
and then find a letter at the "C floor" i.e., the bottom of each "C" word going down.

The seven letters spell the meta answer: BULLION.
