On the ship. Not even a rabbit hole to look down. However the company here is delightful!

Help me! I have the most elegant 11 letter solution which would be correct if we were looking for 11 letters of gibberish. I am too invested in this rabbit hole to go back!

Spotted the beach but got caught up in the tide.
Finally felt sand between the toes.

Ashore.
I figured out the way to go, but it took a nudge and @Bob cruise director’s superior brain to get us here through some difficult terrain.

As for 1A- “plants by the water?”

Well, Toto, we aren't in Chicago ANymore--and we aren't at our fiNAl destination of the beach, either. We are SHUt in a variety of rabbit holes. And we are in Lisbon! We've been busy suMMIting the many hills to see a variety of great things--leaviNG little time for solving. I'll have a BIt of time on the train to Porto. So perhaps I'll find that 11-letter woRD.

Solved and ashore. I figured out the key thing but then botched what to do with it until the Coast Guard arrived.

The cruise company is telling me that I need to solve the puzzle or start paying extra for the buffet and drinks.

Ashore! After getting 90% of the way there almost instantly I made a bone crushingly stupid error and spent the rest of the weekend trying to recover.

I think I need a stiff Pepto Bismol

Back in town from San Francisco and getting a late start. Grid done. Looking and thinking. Lots of possibilities from title and clues.

I’m firmly strapped in here in the bar, haven’t given up but the odds aren’t looking too good. My son will be here this afternoon, perhaps he will help with a new set of eyes.

Ashore with nudges. I’m sorry to have missed the Friday zoom - but I was attending to my brand newly born granddaughter! What a gift from Heaven!
If I’ve solved and you need a nudge, you can PM me. Happy to pay it forward. ;)

Hopelessly lost as well. I'll be staying the night on the boat I'm sure.

Wondering when or if I will ever get my groove back?

I worked with a co-solver on this with no joy. Later, received hints that sounded like Miss Othmar.

Went back to one of over a dozen attempts at solving & reworked it (with some frustration), solving ultimately.

Was later shown the full Patrick Berryness of this meta. Frustration removed. Faith in Patrick unyielding.
