Have an answer. Going to wait to beam up for the Tilghman, just because why not.

Solved! Needed some help on the week 4 last week, but got this one solo!
Really enjoyed it - one of my favorites in recent memory!

I hope that Matt doesn't mind, but I prefered my first answer before seeing the second step!! :)

On the board with all the achievements except being first on the board. But then again, only 2% have gotten that achievement so I will remain as part of the 98%.

It was a hard-fought battle, and there could only be one victor, but ultimately, it looks like, just barely, Felix the Cat did win over Ginger Cat.

Ginger Cat, you fought a noble battle, but you did come in second. What are your thoughts?

Got the Tilghman. Though, to be honest, I have no idea whether I already had it or not.

Solved with help. As is often the case, I did not act on things that I noticed. Or maybe just did not know how to act with them.

Looks like my fishing trip forced me to qualify for the Tilghman.

Typical of my Gaffney experiences: nothing, nothing, nothing..wait, is that something, YES, it is something but....nothing, nothing, nothing...that HAS to be it but there must be more....nothing, nothing, nothing....oh for heaven's sake HOW did I miss that for two days!!!!!

Waiting for Tuesday because as HunterX says, "why not". I am never getting a First to solve or quick solve (since I MUST complete the grid before I solve) and I bobbled some of the other badges, so:

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Tilghman hope you get a badge too.

EDIT: Thank goodness for friends more aware than I am. I don't know why I thought Tuesday was Tilghman (alliteration maybe?). I got a message from someone I confirmed with that it was TODAY!! I would have been sooooo angry with myself.
NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!

Quite the fun journey on this one, with some interesting side trips along the way. Beamed up on Tilghman Day!

I've been beamed up, and Tilghman has been checked in.

I enjoyed this one and felt fortunate to find it quickly after struggling with the WSJ puzzle.

This one is weird. I have the mechanism and everything and they came with a solid click, but I don't know what to submit as a "noted American institution" because what I have -and again, this couldn't be a more solid get- is not an "institution".

Edit: Never mind, I got something confused.

I would propose that the correct answer (though seemingly, he is accepting a second answer) truly qualifies as an "institution".

Surprised :o and shocked  to be beamed up at #207!!

I made progress in the solve and then was stuck so I guessed and submitted because I wanted the Tilghman badge. Got it!

Happy birthday, Tilghman!!

I kind of can't believe this one had over 200 correct answers before I submitted. Very tough. I was soliciting nudges right before I saw the light.
