Close, But No
Several of my puzzles could be put into the folder labeled OPP – Other People’s Paradigms: Carnac jokes, Spoonerisms, Pig Latin, mondegreens, Tom Swifties. Today (Monday) is Yom Kippur, but instead of atoning for this shameless appropriation, I’m at it again. This time it’s malapropisms, and all of the themers come from other sources, some anonymous, some well-known. Yogi Berra is absent, but George W. Bush is here. The Marx Brothers would have been a great source, but theirs were all deliberate and hence, for purposes of this puzzle, meretricious.
The difficulty level is on the low side — 1.5 - 2.
Thanks to @Abide and @KayW for test solving and to @Joe Ross for making it all accessible.
The answer is what each of the theme answers is.

Off the couch. Loved this one! Well done, Jay.
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

Excellent. It takes a warped mind to solve this but unfortunately I have one (as my wife will testify) so the answer came quickly. Awaiting confirmation but I am off the grouch.
And the weather forecasters here in the Northeast salivate at the opportunity to use 44D in the winter.

@Bob cruise director, not sure if this is, or is not a malapropism??Bob cruise director wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 8:31 am Excellent. It takes a warped mind to solve this but unfortunately I have one (as my wife will testify) so the answer came quickly. Awaiting confirmation but I am off the grouch.

OTC.... and while not "off-the-docks" (as Archie Bunker might say), a heartfelt "g'mar chatima tovah" to those celebrating!

I’m off the couch. Very clever! Wonder how long til someone who hasn’t solved posts a spoiler:)
If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.
(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

I'm off the coach!
Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

If Cap'n Rick has a color for STUPID from last weeks puzzle, please use that to color me in. I got so wrapped up in what I knew things were, I lost the whole concept of a VERY amusing and well constructed puzzle. There is indeed a deficit that comes with too much thinking.
Very nice one Jay!

NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!
