MEOW #146 I'll Have What She's Halving

A weekly meta crossword on the forum started by member Josh (aka madhatter5). These puzzles are often very creative with solving mechanisms out of the norm and skewing towards the more challenging. Puzzles are posted every Wednesday, and the solution appears the following Tuesday.

Good morning all and welcome to the 146th installation of MEOW.

There was a range of experience for test solvers so I'm going to call the difficulty level just shy of a

Kitten
Calico
*Persian
Puma
Lion

unless you see something that you need to see immediately.

Thank you to the Cap'n for testing; the Dr for tweaking; Kay for testing/revealing; and Joe for teching.

The answer to the meta is: A fun place to eat.
Nudges late on Friday.
Bon appetit!

The cat is free! Nice one, @whimsy!
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

Cat’s free! Thoroughly enjoyed, and found it a solid calico or maybe a bit easier.

Debagged at 30,000 feet... really enjoyed it Claudia, with some pretty great clues sprinkled in there!

Bag sans cat.

I had the right idea, but needed a bit of help.

Fun!

The cat is out. I had a lot of thoughts going, but needed a friendly nudge to help narrow it down. Thanks!

Yep - it was so much fun! Very strange, tho... Crosshare did not accept "Armitage Ale House" as the answer to this meta. The quality of the food was surpassed only by the company.

Also strange... this is the third food-related meta in as many days. Can't wait to see if tomorrow's WSJCC is as well. My waistline can't stand much more of this

I for one would be delighted if you could either solve the meta or eat it. My streak would be MUCH longer.

I think I have all the parts. I just need to see the "spark". There was one funny thing in front of my eyes for hours before I noticed it.

(Never seen 51A before... very cute and giggle worthy)
Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

You got 'em --

Read the title carefully.

Symmetric longest entries are not necessarily key.

While the grid is symmetric, the anchor entries (The XWord Rabbit's term, which I like) are not.

The center entry across clue may be helpful.

Once you have the basic mechanism, the double entries for 54 and 64D should be helpful.

No rule says the anchor entries need to be horizontal.

The penultimate word of the title vies with the last word in being important.
