I'm now OTC post hints. I was thinking along the lines of nudge 2/3, but was looking in the wrong rabbit hole. Thanks Darth!

Off the couch with a little help from my friend - just in time for more rain

Friday the town five miles to the east of us got damaging winds. Monday the town 10 miles to the west of us got 11 inches of rain in a few hours. Hopefully it is not narrowing in on us.

Awaiting confirmation

Off the couch, with the nudges. Overthinking things, as usual. Thanks for the puzzle, Darth!

Wow. I can not believe I got all the pieces and didn't put them together. I figured I had to be missing something really simple and easy and obvious.... and I was.

Great puzzle.
Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

And don't forget the hurricane effects on Saturday!

We just changed our BI ferry reservations from Saturday to Monday. I would not have been able to swallow the size dramamine I would have needed should the ferries even run then!

I'm sure I'm overthinking this because even with the nudges I've got nothing. Or, well, I thought I maybe had something until the nudges cleared up that everything I was looking at was nothing more than a deep rabbit hole. But I can't seem to see the pattern in the grid, from nudge 2.

Edit: OTC!

And one last nudge to see if we can add more to our list before the "reveal": 1A is twisted like Vader, and only leads to a tortuous path of continual darkness. The light you need is at the lower left of the grid. Look for an expression similar in meaning to the title "my treat" -- then apply it literally as the metanism.

Posting this placeholder to see if I get in under the wire, haha. Cluing is fantastic.

And perfection! Definitely one where going back to the title dislodged the cobwebs. Well done!

The answer to the meta is my favorite treat.
:
Here's the solution:
49D "I'll pay the tab" suggests the meaning of the puzzle's title: "It's my treat!" = "On me!"
Take that suggestion literally and find all seven instances where ON ME can be applied:
HO TF UD GE SU ND AE = hot fudge sundae
