Well, I figured out it was about birds and not cheese on my own, but I needed a PM from KayW to remind me that birds don't have to be anagrams of cheeses.

Off the couch.
Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

And let's not forget @Clark E. Tripe

Has it really been a year?
Hey, thank you for remembering my birthday, @KayW! And I would also like to wish @Wendy Walker and @MaineMarge happy birthdays on Wednesday. Looks like there were more "special days" this week than @Cap'n Rick was aware of.

Wednesday Nudges

Let's see if we can nudge a few more solvers off their couches.

Hmm, if I remember my Latin correctly, "Ad Astra" means "to the stars".

Hey, wait a minute! I'm seeing "STARS" again in 51-Down, and the clue says there are seven of them.

67-Across is a hint regarding the symmetrical positioning of the seven interconnected STAR words. (Kinda looks like they are boldly walking or hiking across the grid, as if on a mission.)

Asta and Lassie were cool, but I think my favorite DOG STAR is TOTO.

Don't forget those first letters of grid entries in grid order! They're usually important.

Happy birthdays today to @MaineMarge and @Wendy Walker - two of my (and @Clark E. Tripe's) favorite Muggle "STARS".

Please feel free to PM me if you're still stuck!

Another week having to get dragged off the couch - but also crushing some of those Easter eggs upon contacting the floor, alas.

Thanks, Rick. Matt should be putting you into a guest constructor slot any day now.

OTC and out to the garden where the dahlias are the current stars

@Bird Lives’ favorite pink dahlia, Zingaro. I’ve lost the name of the white- I just call her Fluffy. With a reblooming delphinium and phlox in the background.
I’m starstruck at all the little garden nooks and crannies every day.
