Look Both Ways
Good Monday Morning, Muggles!
I am delighted to be back with you this week with a new puzzle. This one is called "Look Both Ways" and I expect this is one of those puzzles that could either be a week 1 or a week 3 depending on what you see ... I'll call it a week 2, for now. And I'll have nudges for you on Wednesday.
Thanks to @Abide and to my fiancee @EdBogie for test solving, and @Joe Ross for technical support.
Happy solving!

Trying to vacate the sofa, but finding it hard to get up. Must be my rapidly advancing age!
Edit: Turns out I was indeed off the couch!

Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

Huh. Thought I had it, but made a wrong turn somewhere. Shall continue to ponder.
Already fun though, so thanks.

Well, as per usual I added a step to make it harder when I should not have. I did manage to leave the couch, only when it was safe though!
NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!

A minor correction - the answer to 10D is not a bird of prey. It is a scavenger.

Off the couch. I got the mechanism quickly, but needed some guidance after that.
Thanks for the puzzle!

Off the couch. I didn't think my first guess was going to be correct, but it was the only 10-letter answer I could think of. And it was accepted. Nice puzzle.

My husband had to convince me to submit the answer I had been mulling.

I want to get off the couch with help.
Instead I'm staring at a grid with five rows that.... and that's it.

Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

Off the couch with a redirect. I had all the pieces. I just did not know what to do with them so I tried to force them into a mechanism I have seen before. It seemed like it should work. It didn't.
