MEOW #140 Oblique Meetings

#1

Post by benchen71 »

I've really enjoyed filling in the occasional MEOW over the last few weeks. I relish the chance to explore some more challenging grids and throwing off some of the restraints and conventions of the genre. Here, for example, is a grid with (shock, horror) two 2-letter words! Gasp! Anyway, if you can look past these little foibles I hope you will enjoy this puzzle. I've selected the difficulty level based on an average of the grid (Persian) and the meta (Kitten). The answer to the meta is a 6-letter word.

The easiest way to submit is on Crosshare (and you get instant feedback and unlimited attempts!) But you can also PM me with your submission. Either way, I'll compile a list of those who successfully solve the meta.

Oblique Meetings - PUZ
Oblique Meetings - PDF
Oblique Meetings - spreadsheet

Kitten
Calico
Persian
Puma
Lion

Nudges are here.
The solution is here.

Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

met the challenge head on and rubbed heads with my cat and we both leaped out the bag.

That was a lot of fun and an enjoyable end to my tues.
Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

FUN! Like good guests who always bring you something you didn't have before and really like when they present it, Ben is a GREAT guest constructor. This puzzle is, as advertised, harder to fill than to solve...but as any of the constructors on here will tell you, there is a reason for that. Impressive and not only is my cat out of the bag but is frolicking in the forest:

NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!

Cat is free! Loved this. Not sure how you possibly made the fill work!
