Off the couch....first launch was a failure, did a quick AHA dummy and successful launch.

Fun one.

Off the couch! I think there might be some corn flakes in the cushions from the aha moment.

Great twist!

I'm a messy eater, so I've got some Trix up my sleeves.

Off the couch, finally. I have to reset my .puz proportions so that I can see what needs to be seen. And before I saw it, it was fun thinking of possible answers for the half-solution I had.

Tomorrow is nudge Wednesday, so hope that will help get some more. There are several folks who are part way there but stopped too soon.

Nudge #1:

(A)bide + (B)arbara = (C)rossword

or, put another way: 1 + 2 = 3

Nudge #2:

If you have a five-letter word at the outset, that is NOT the answer. You need to decode the first word to find the correct answer, which is also five letters long.

Nudge 3:

Remember that first nudge? A=1, B=2, C=3

That seems like a possible code. Can you decode the first word using numbers in the grid?

Um... are you nudging the same puzzle that I did? If so, I missed something major!
Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.
