Ashore!
I tried briefly on Friday but didn’t see anything but dead ends.
Today after a good round of golf (even though we are in a 110+ degree streak, got out early) I looked again and the answer seemed so obvious. Why didn’t I see it on Friday?!

I only remember this because of watching the movie Grease over and over as a child, and I'm shocked to learn it was a real commercial! I can't hear it any other way then the way Jan sings it...😂

Edit: I could not help myself. I had to go back and look again. There are two good answers. Which one is best depends on your definition of hidden.
@lbray53 Great picture and great fun with the girls. Did the girls touch the fish?

God evening muggles

Our final count is 5 on the ship and 242 on the shore.

Tomorrow should be interesting.

Surprisingly they touched the fish the worms and the minnows. Moms were not along and we washed hands thoroughly after. First time fishing for all of them.

Well I’m still on the ship. The pattern has emerged but the sixth theme answer is elusive. Good thing Isaac is still awake.

Ended up Going South on this one because I never thought about Going North, because the title was "Go West." at least I found the reversed states.

TFTXWD anyway.

Um... so what could possibly be the second answer.

I'm a bit miffed that Maine is not a western state and that in CHAT UP you are going North instead of West. We can say neither are actually required but... if neither are required then the title is actually irrelevant to the puzzle.

Error or nitpick? I'm leaning error but not an error that delegitimizes the puzzle though.
Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

"Go West" was a fairly straightforward meta clue, but while looking backwards in the theme answers for regular words, those tricksy states were hard to spot.

I can't say how many times I looked west before I finally spotted Ohio and then Idaho.

For the record, Bob, I didn’t even board the ship due to a weekend of house-hunting in a State that would never fit this meta… Connecticut!
Well done solvers and nice week to all!

Why is it CHATUP and not UTAH? UTAH is the hidden theme answer, in my opinion.

Oh dear. I submitted “Utah” considering it the sixth answer of the “hidden” theme of state names.
Congrats to those who got the published answer!
