Hard grid and the baseball references are scaring me.

But I'll stick it out.

EDIT: and the baseball references have done me in. Which is worse: not being able to do something but thinking you can, or thinking you can't do something when maybe you can or can't?

Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

Regarding the somewhat challenging grid: Lots of entertaining clues, and while a couple other constructors may be the master of the punny clue, I believe Al is the master of the slightly misdirecting, somewhat ambiguous, but perfectly fair clue!
I’ll second that.

Awaiting word whether I am on or off the couch. Either way, a great Al Sisti puzzle.

The couch analogy doesn't work well here for me - so lets just say it was an enjoyable solve and a masterful piece of construction.

OTC! Submitted with hesitation on crosshare, but got on base - and the comments tied up some loose ends. Very clever, @Al Sisti !

Off the couch! Nice one, even for this Aussie! :D
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

I'm really going to be kicking myself when the nudges come tomorrow, aren't I?

Oh, well. But... I think I need them.

FINALLY saw the trick after staring and staring. This was such a great idea, and in retrospect of course hidden in plain sight. I’m still on the couch (I’m on vacation) - but I solved the puzzle… now on to the next!
The other Wendy.

Happy Nudge Wednesday... here's the first of three:

Did you know that the word "strike" can also mean "delete"?

The correct answer was my first thought for a possibility, but I needed the nudge to find it. Thanks, Al!

I faced an 0-2 count but finally connected and I'm off the couch. Loved the baseball references. Thanks for the puzzle Al

Hmm. Apparently I guessed the mechanism correctly. But I have no idea of the answer.

Maybe I'll blame it on my lack of baseball knowledge after all. If it's something obvious maybe I'll pretend to be proud of my lack of knowledge.

Edit: oh wait. I got it. Had to ask the wife what the heck a "closer" was. Perhaps I should have done that two days ago. I feel I'm still missing something.

BTW ..... dang autocorrect.
