MGWCC #777 — Sunday, April 23rd, 2023 — “It’s Integral to the Clue”

OK, so we’ve had two Week 1’s this month. Guess that means Week 3 should be a little tougher, right? We’ll see…

THIS WEEK’S INSTRUCTIONS:

This week’s contest answer is a noted historical figure.

NOTE: Due to the late post, the deadline for this meta will be Thursday, April 27th at noon ET.

Solve well, and be not led astray by words intended to deceive

OK, I am officially scared. Excited to see this Gollum (trickster) but scared just the same.
NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!

I took a shot at achieving the last badge but was incorrect. I also was not the first to be incorrect! 😆🥳🏆

@DrTom Fear is a good thing. Especially when the meta has been out for 90 minutes and the only ones on the board are Jangler, e.a. and Neville

Well, I have the first step, which is printing out the crossword.
Less cross words, more crosswords.

Three correct answers after an hour and fifteen minutes. I'm not even sure I want to solve the puzzle, let alone try the meta.
Happy to give nudges. If you notice I've solved, please tell me about avenues you've explored so I can nudge you in the right direction and not off a cliff.

The grid is fairly easy. You might as well do that. Maybe you will see something.

I know. I was just being snarky. Puzzle solved. Tried a couple things. Nothing is panning out for me.

Submitted and awaiting the beam...

... and I'm beamed.

(This was not a solo solve. Discord for the win!)
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

I needed a little nudging too, and glad to be done! Work week needs to start! (glad these don’t always come out on Sunday). Will watch the board for posting but I’m sure I’ve got it.

Conversation with myself on this meta:

"I have an idea!"
"You've said that ten times already."
"BUT THIS ONE WILL WORK!"

Update - on at #31

Awaiting leaderboard update. Needed a slight nudge to help me understand why what I was seeing was what I needed to see.
