MGWCC #767 — Saturday, February 11th, 2023 — “Team Exercises”

Dear Solver,

Time does indeed fly, everyone agrees. How are we on MGWCC #767? Speaking of which…

THIS WEEK’S INSTRUCTIONS:

No instructions give here since there are no-instructions options this week.

Two quick notes on MGWCC #767
1) The date is wrong on the PDF; should read February 11th, not 10th.

2) Forgot to mention that due to the delayed post, the deadline for submitting entries this week is Wednesday, February 15th, at Noon ET.

Keep calm and carry on,

Matt

How did you get the adorable photo, Joe? The email I received contained no such cuteness. THAT BOW! Given her provenance she is probably counting those circles in preparation for creating some completely new type of puzzle.
Good luck, fellow Muggles!

Matt's xwordcontest site. "Rage-deflecting," indeed!

Matt's xwordcontest site will always give first notice of delays to puzzles. Further, it will pre-post the meta clue and title up to 30 minutes before the puzzle is made available on Matt's Patreon site. Matt's Patreon site will provide the puzzle files between 2 to 5 minutes before email.

Submitted at 11:04-- let's see if I'm top 5.

EDIT: (in at #3, which I think is my best!)

And at 1pm EST, I have a guest puzzle on MikeyG's site https://punofakind.blogspot.com/ in homage to last week's Souper Bowl meta.

Crosshare link here: viewtopic.php?t=2053
The site is just a web page, a meeting place, a clubhouse - it's the group that's special.

You sure were, Peter! I submitted at 12:09 and snuck into the top 5 - you had several minutes to spare! I am truly in some elite company here.

Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

Am I doomed if I know next to nothing about sports?
Happy to give nudges. If you notice I've solved, please tell me about avenues you've explored so I can nudge you in the right direction and not off a cliff.

Definitely one in which I had a big "Huhhhh?" moment there for several minutes.

Yikes. No chance of overthinking because I can't even find a second thing to think about (after themers). I'll have to put it away for a while. I guess it's supposed to be on the easy side since it came with no-instructions and downs-only versions.

UPDATE: Oh, gosh. Any thinking is overthinking. I believe I have it now.
