Yes, for the Gaffney obsessives out there, this was definitely solvable without the grid. But I've already got my #1 badge, so solve the grid I did.

Printed the puzzle. looked at the leaderboard and decided that since I wasn't going to be first, I would complete the grid prior to submitting.

Can one of you explain this to me. I got my Patreon notification at 12:005 today. By that time, 6 people were already on the board.

Easily:
- Matt posted the meta prompt several minutes before noon ET on his site.
- The answer can be quickly found without the crossword puzzle.
- As soon as the entry form was available on Matt's site, several people entered correctly.
