MGWCC #766 — Friday, September 3rd, 2023 — “Happy Birthday to Her”

THIS WEEK’S INSTRUCTIONS:

This puzzle’s contest answer is how many years old my daughter turns today, as illustrated in *each* of the four theme entries (i.e. don’t add them up!)

Solve well, and be not led astray by words intended to deceive.

Beamed. Finished the grid rather than jumping at the temptation to submit right away.

I also wanted to finish the grid, so not in the first 50, but well placed here, well placed here.

Yes, for the Gaffney obsessives out there, this was definitely solvable without the grid. But I've already got my #1 badge, so solve the grid I did.

Printed the puzzle. looked at the leaderboard and decided that since I wasn't going to be first, I would complete the grid prior to submitting.

Waiting on an update.

The way me week is going I'll be surprised if I get this. (Anyone else find the grid really tough?)

Happy Birthday.
Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

Can one of you explain this to me. I got my Patreon notification at 12:005 today. By that time, 6 people were already on the board.

Easily:
  • Matt posted the meta prompt several minutes before noon ET on his site.
  • The answer can be quickly found without the crossword puzzle.
  • As soon as the entry form was available on Matt's site, several people entered correctly.

My #1 came from his birthday, as a matter of fact.
