I finally got to this one ... and, yes, it's a lot of fun! Solved and submitted (and it gave me the excuse I needed to clean off the dining room table).

Wow... I used to spend *weeks* on the previous versions (and they were half the size)...

I think the clues were more conveniently on a separate pullout this year, which eliminated all that time-consuming page-flipping. In past years for me, too, it would take days and days to plow through!

To be fair, the crossword itself took me three hours. The other puzzles were pretty fast.

The "Monumental Moderation" mega meta, created by 12 of your favorite Muggle constructors, isn't nearly as large, but it's loads of fun and much closer to home! Plus it has two metanisms and two meta answers! :o

I hope someone here can help me. I finished the super mega last weekend: Got the seven crossword answers, solved the seven other puzzles. But now I'm stuck, not knowing what to do with them. I'm a daily NYT crossword solver, but I don't understand what I'm missing here. Any help?

Oh, cool. It arrived here in yesterday's paper. I would so prefer a digital version (puz or something). No such luck?

Have to say the holiday puzzle package was awesome. Not just the meta but all the other ones too. Good job Mr. Shortz and friends.

Finished the xword around 12/22, the mini puzzles on 12/23, and only got a chance to piece the meta together this morning. The whole thing came together very nicely at the end. It's hard enough to construct an oversized crossword (VERY hard, in fact); constructing one with nearly 800 entries containing seven meta entries *and* the instructions for the meta must have been...

I just solved this. There were production difficulties making the delivery of this special section to Vancouver late, and so I was just able to get to it now. I'm impressed by those that filled in the big puzzle in one sitting. I did it in two sittings, as my eyes were starting to go cross-eyed from squinting at all the little numbers for all that time. I found the meta to be trickier than those in year's past, but this afternoon inspiration struck (after getting lost in some rabbit holes), and now I have a rock-solid answer. Too bad I can't submit it :-(
