Alright. Now with Astros win in the bag, I was able to concentrate a bit more. After giving up our beloved rabbit hole, and a fresh perspective, I spotted it fairly easily, and we are onshore.
We are planning on going to the parade tomorrow. In 2017 over a million were in attendance. Expectation is for more this year.
It's Pena Time. Do it for Dusty. Crawford Boch please.

Well, since I am in the minority here, I guess Mark Twain thinks I don't have to pause and reflect? I'm going against the trend here: not seeing it

Ashore, motivated by my daughter’s gloating that the answer hit her after “too many mimosas at brunch. I won’t post her specific gloat in case it’s a spoiler . . .

After some mental visualization of the grid while taking a long walk, I am safely on shore. Hibiscus tea for me. And I'm putting on some shorts to enjoy this 80 degree day in the DFW area.
Good luck to all for a successful solve. If you see that I'm ashore - rare occasion of late - message me if you'd like a nudge. Be sure to include your progress so I can know better how to assist.

Any chance I could call in the Coast Guard to point me towards the cabana
I'm a retired Coast Guard transoceanic navigator from the days long before GPS. PM me. I can mislead you anywhere.
Ah, to effectively mislead one must have taken a radar fix on a cloud…(in defense, it looked like St. Louis)

I posted yesterday hoping for a nudge, but I think it got buried. Any chance for some assistance for somebody hopelessly lost at sea?

PM me with what you’re thinking so far and I’ll try to point you toward shore.

And/or join the Last Call Zoom at 8PM this evening.
If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.

(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

Ashore! Worked it Thursday and easily got started on it. Then nothing. Didn’t look at it again until a few minutes ago, and I was like, “Oh wait, what’s that?? Aha!” 🙂
Overthinking is my super power. 8-)

Finally sat down this afternoon to PMX and WSJ. Knocked WSJ in no time at all. On shore with a nice amber lager.

Solved. Better late than never.
Seeing that the E-word was being bandied about, I figured I'd look at it again...and saw
Someone said this is a classic Gaffney, I'm not sure I agree with that. Classic, OK; classic Gaffney, don't think so.

Count me on shore. I have some feelings about the grid though.

I struggled with the grid, but swam ashore quickly (for me!)
