Off the couch. Thanks Al. I had an extra something that delayed my solve for a bit.

Off the couch. Nice one!
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

You had me at 35D. 36A and 42D were icing on the cake.

Nice meta! I’m off the couch
If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.

(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

First attempt at solve not so hot. Hopefully, the second one is right. Such an elegant mechanism!

Off the couch, but not until I had spent some time chasing the wrong rabbit down the wrong hole. 36A and 42D were terra incognita for me, but fortunately, we have a data scientist in residence this week, and he knew immediately.

I'm also going to check out the nudges tomorrow. I have an idea of what the mechanism could be an I see something that must be a part of the solution, but I can't make anything work.

In the same boat -- I see something that is clearly relevant, but not able to put it all together.

That's more than I see. The only thing I see that is clearly relevant is that part of the puzzle that says "The answer to this meta is a theater personality". I figure that is probably important but I could be wrong.
Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

Thanks Al!
Took awhile to locate the last piece, but I’m off the couch and out to find a comfortable seat outside-

Hmmmm, 42 on leaderboard! But I’m not seeing it! Had some ideas but not working out to anything! Will need nudges, I’m afraid!

Confirmed off the couch on Crossshare! Thanks for the great puzzle. All solving credit goes to my better half.

Happy Nudge Wednesday, all! I'm going to give them to you one at a time, so you can ruminate on them individually.

The answer is five letters. Some of you found a couple other viable words that were coincidental... sorry about that. Oh, and...

...since I misspelled that boxer's last name. As some of you know, I hate "clever" clues for "made up" words in a grid -- but since the current entry doesn't fit the current cluing, and since it has nothing to do with the meta anyway -- the new wording for the clue at 13A is "Descriptor for the career of a once-well-known comedienne."

I believe I am off the couch, but waiting for confirmation. The nudge confirmed the method I had been trying, but it helped me to re-focus and keep going down that path.

OTC. I really needed the second nudge. Otherwise there were too many possibilities.

Off the couch, someone had sent me a similar nudge to #1, which is what I needed to solve.

Thanks Al, fun puzzle and meta.

Hmm. I'm correct on Crosshare, but I'm still not sure about that last letter.

I hate it when I have the correct general idea, try it but don't see it, then it turns out to be the right approach after all. I should have looked just a little harder.
