MGWCC #744, "Quartet for Strings"
There's a "no prompt" option for this Week 1 puzzle, so I'm not giving it here.
EDIT: On the board at #46!

With no streak to worry about went with a wild guess - and still end up at #4.... Need a new strategy, or a faster internet connection

Beam me up! Knew what the answer would be before even starting the puzzle.

Beam me up! Ditto others - fairly confident guess based on the prompt, but I figured the fun is in actually solving so I did that first.

The waiting to verify you're beamed up is almost more challenging that getting the meta answer.

and we are confirmed, good week one.

Had it before I even did the grid, but of course I HAVE to do the Grid.

Judging from my progress so far, likely to be the only Meta (besides Bens) that I solve this week - RATS!
NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!

Well.... I sure don't follow the news apparently. But ... A nice week one.

Edit: Admittedly I got a late start and admittedly I dallied with trying downs only, and then no instructions and finally broke down on the instructions and had to ask Mrs. Woozy Hey, who's been in the news this week to which she answered You mean, besides Trump?, but still.... 156????? Oh, well, that's better than 598.....

Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

If this week's meta was a jigsaw puzzle, here's what it would be:

Mind you, I'm not complaining after last week.

Beamed up! Impressed by those who guessed the meta before doing the grid, I had no idea at all.

Beamed!

Came close to finishing the grid with no downs. Finally had to see two or three across clues to make it all work. Fun!

Beamed up. This was a fun one. I never would have gotten it before filling in the grid, but maybe that is because I don't pay enough attention to the news. That is probably not a good thing to admit!
