"Back Pocket"

#1

Post by Abide »

Good morning everyone! As we wind down the dog days of summer, here's a Week 2 meta to beat the heat. The grid may be tougher than the meta.

The meta answer is a summer rerun. For extra credit, find the two additional words that would make a good fifth theme entry.

Edit: Revised instructions to limit the range of “extra credit answers”

Submit answer by PM or on Crosshare by Saturday at 10pm EST.
Randomly drawn winner will receive a Biloxi Christmas ornament.

Got the answer, but drawing a blank on the extra credit
If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.

(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

Good stuff, though indeed the grid required some google-checking of guesses in a couple spots. Worst was 8D, where both versions of the clue might as well have been in Greek for me and a typo I had in 6A made it very hard to infer that crossing at first. So that one's on me.

Meta was simple but fun, thanks. Extra credit earned as well. Which reminds me that school starts next week. Sigh.

Not only do I not get the meta, I don't get the prompt....
Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

Make that 3 of us! Not sure what to do with the prompt and finding the mechanism.

On the plus side loved seeing 29d! Monteverde is my maiden name and Claudio was a distant relative.

We may be of like mind on this. I got the correct - yet incorrect - extra credit answer, but settled for resubmitting with the incorrect - yet correct - extra credit answer. All in good fun...
