"Pointing Towards Success" - July 17, 2022

From Will's email:

This week's puzzle: Pointing Towards Success by Lydia Roth & Christina Bodensiek
Difficulty: Medium

That's right, we've got an excellent guest-constructed puzzle this week! Lydia and Christina were the first to answer my call for collaborators that I sent out during week 2 of this season. They've put together an awesome puzzle that I'm thrilled to share with y'all!

The answer to this week's meta is a 7-letter word.
(No Google. Or Bing. Or "Edge" if you still use that.)

Hi everyone, hope you enjoy Christina's and my co-constructing debut this week! Huge thanks to Will for making this happen, we already all know what a knack for meta constructing he's got, so it was incredible to see behind the scenes and learn from the best. I can't wait to see lots more puzzles in the future from newer constructors thanks to his mentorship and editing!

I’m out of the box. Fun puzzle!

I’d assumed 56D was going to be some pop culture thing I’ve never heard of. Got a nice chuckle when I figured it out.
If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.

(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

Excellent puzzle! I look forward to more from these constructors.
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!
