MGWCC #735 - “Bit by Bit” by Richard D. Allen
MGWCC #735 — GUEST CONSTRUCTOR MONTH, PUZZLE #1 — Friday, July 1st, 2022 — “Bit by Bit” by Richard D. Allen
GUEST CONSTRUCTOR MONTH, WEEK 1:
First up for GCM Summer 2022 is Richard D. Allen, aka @ricky. You may know Richard already from the metas (and non-metas) he writes at his site Lexicon Devil. Richard describes himself as “a puzzle constructor, lawyer, writer, parent, spouse and cat owner in North Carolina.”
Works for me — let’s see what he’s got in store for Week 1…
THIS WEEK’S INSTRUCTIONS:
This week’s contest answer is a nine-letter word.
Solve well, and be not led astray by words intended to deceive.

That was a quick sprint! Satisfying for a Friday, and yes I know it is week 1 but I am shell shocked from last week. I was also reminded that this is a 5 week month, and two Fridays I'll be away for (3rd and 4th) so probably won't work on them because, for me, phones and metas only work if it is a week 1. So I'll take a solve when I can get it.
EDIT: #49, I'm glad I bit!

NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!

Um.... June only has 30 days. This was supposed to be a week 1. Not a week 5.
Did I just land on Mars or some other culture where I am the alien?
....
EDIT: Oh, I get it. Not a week one by any stretch of the imagination but not much more than a week 2.
It's easy like a week 1, but it's complicated like a week 3, and it's triggerless like a week 3+.
EDIT2: Weird. Page hasn't been updated in nearly an hour. I assume I'll be on there (without my 24 week streak icon. *sob*) but I'm not there yet.

Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

That was fun! I never mind a week 2-ish showing up on week 1.

So all 5 puzzles for July will have guest constructors? Not sure how I feel about that. Happy to solve this week 1.

Typically, yeah. It's an annual tradition (not always the same month).

Beam up requested. Fun!
Edit to note I'm lucky #100 on the board! My actual time from starting the grid to submitting was just over15 minutes according to the .puz timer, but I started late as usual... There's no way I can compete with the likes of @docison anyway :-)
