Ashore. Meta wasn't as easy as the last several. Comments over the years regarding how to solve these definitely helped. New solvers take heart --- you can learn this as long as you practice! (I didn't make that up but I've heard it before.)

Got it, thank goodness! Geez Louise, that's the first one for months that I haven't solved on Thursday. Heading off to the Delaware Valley Bluegrass Fest in Salem, NJ.
Good luck, fellow Muggles!

Same here. We'll have to compare notes later and see if it's the same one!
In the meantime I'm hanging with Isaac and hoping for post-enlightenment.

5 rabbit holes later and apparently I took a wrong turn in the 3rd one which must have been in Albuquerque.
If this isn't the answer, then it's a helluva coincidence.
Done and done.

If I'm around, I am willing to join the Muggle Zoom room at other times to lend a hand to those in need.

Ashore. Wow. Funnily enough, this occurred to me as an answer pretty quickly, but I couldn't find a way to justify it in the grid. Then, after going down several rabbit holes with no luck and getting stuck on a whole other answer, I finally saw it. Very cool meta.

Love my answer -- if it's not right, it should be. To celebrate, a Monkey 47 and tonic, please. May a long relaxing weekend at the Puzzletiki Bar start early for us all! (As usual -- repairing for a trip to the Hall of Shame if I'm wrong.)
PS. Almost did it again ... got so excited about posting here, I almost forgot to submit the answer! LOL

Ashore, the "aha" hit just after I reconciled to spending the long weekend sitting with Isaac.

On shore, letting my newbie meta dry, looking for a place on the crowded beach to call my own, still thinking a mug would be great to hold. I have an average chance of winning one if I can just keep up this streak for a decade. 3/3 now, all in a row, this time in short order.
Ode to Short Story
Sweet conquering of a meta, I can a mug forgo.
Forgive me, if I forget "A-HA!", and shout, a loud "BINGO!"
I did it, honestly, and nothing new, save sans grief.
Unable, I can't explain right now, so I'll keep this story brief.
At any rate, no meta work remains this weekend, though I see labor on the calendar.
Have a great holiday!
N.B. If you think this note is clueless, you're right.

Still on the boat. Wish there was a good tutorial on how to do these. No idea what to look at.

Ugh. At sea for a second week in a row, after a nice long streak.

I think I saw that ode on an old Grecian urn at a yard saleEmmaa wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2019 5:11 pm On shore, letting my newbie meta dry, looking for a place on the crowded beach to call my own, still thinking a mug would be great to hold. You can get it. You have gotten some that are much more obscure than this one. Sleep on it, it is only Friday

Took me a while for this weeks meta but I’m on the beach headed for the tiki bar. Tricky but a good feeling when you aha!

On the beach. Bit of a wiggle with part of the answer but with the rest of it, a no-brainer. Fun and (always) glad not to miss the shore party!

MAN, was that greco? CD, they ought to double your pay. You're like a modern decade Forrest Gump. You seem to run into me EVERYWHERE!Bob cruise director wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2019 5:47 pmI think I saw that ode on an old Grecian urn at a yard saleEmmaa wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2019 5:11 pm On shore, letting my newbie meta dry, looking for a place on the crowded beach to call my own, still thinking a mug would be great to hold. Looks like I'll have no problem getting a seat with Isaac this week.
First step is obvious. I'm reasonably sure of the second, but from there??? Two more days; hopefully I'll see it in time.

Ashore! Phew -- streak intact. I think it was the extra horseradish in the bloody Mary so thanks to Isaac.
Good luck to everyone on winning the mug!
