MGWCC #729 — Saturday, May 21st, 2022 — “Count to J”

THIS WEEK’S INSTRUCTIONS:

NOTE: DUE TO THE LATE POST, THE DEADLINE FOR SOLVING TODAY’S META IS NOON ET ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 25th.

This week's contest answer is a five-letter word that appears in one of this puzzle's clues.

Solve well, and be not led astray by words intended to deceive.

–Matt

Clue Correction: MGWCC #729

Dear Solver,

The first two words in the clue to 44-Across in the current meta should read "Is it" instead of "It is".

This is not meta-related, just an error. Sorry for any confusion it may have caused.

--Matt

OK, but weren't you at least a little distracted by this one's having clues?

This one is going to be one printed out for me! I usually play around in .puz land for the first 30 minutes or so - then, if nothing (there was nothing lol), print it out and hope if inspiration strikes! Congrats again, @Meg!!!

It’s a great view!! One week you’re 3 hours in with nary a thought as to how to proceed. The next week correct moves just pop into your brain.

Last week and this week he has been fascinated with the letter J! See nothing...or way too much.

I'd love a zoom tomorrow. What time is good? I'm literally free all day.
Happy to give nudges. If you notice I've solved, please tell me about avenues you've explored so I can nudge you in the right direction and not off a cliff.

let’s plan on about 2pm eastern?

Maybe tomorrow morning we’ll see the light and won’t need a zoom!

Submitted and confident, too late in the day to beam up quickly, but I'm on a nice planet so I'll just hang out. This was a good one!

Update: #47!

2 pm is good for me. I have musings but no good ideas.

How about if we do this. When each person gets on the zoom call, post in the chat all your thoughts/musings even if they are similar to what others have done or you have decided that it goes nowhere. As the list grows, we have a basis to discuss and either evolve, converge on or decide that it is a rabbit hole.
