What a great smile factor. At first, I was like, "What the heck? There's literally nothing." And then when you see it, you see it! A lot of fun!!

The meta answer is "CHEVY CHASE", (and you're not). :D

The key to this puzzle was noticing the four "Chevy" models on the left side of the grid adjacent to the four synonyms for "chase" on the right. The title - "Celebrity Hound" - also followed the same convention. The central GASOLINES at 20-Down was intended to provide a hint for the cars.

That's it - short and sweet! This was one of those metas where you either saw it or you didn't. Like I mentioned on the Zoom, my wife Erin gave me the idea for this puzzle. We were driving along, and I was telling her how meta ideas can be found most anywhere. Just then a Ford passed us, and I used it as an example saying it could be a car, a person, or a verb. "Like Chevy Chase," she said. Bingo!

Thanks everyone for solving!

Smooth seas!

Fun puzzle, Cap'n! I'm playing catch up... as I just got back (ironically) from a "European vacation"

[Of course, I was expecting the celebrity "hound" would be Snoop Dogg! haha]
