Thanks for the non-nudge nudge yesterday... I saw the "week one" reference and really ran with that to an extreme - like, maybe week 0.4 or something. I went back later and saw what I needed to see and got beamed at 283 just now....HeadinHome wrote: ↑Fri Apr 15, 2022 3:52 pm Welp.. I have an answer that suits the prompt and the findings very well, but it makes this more like a week one than a week 3. Anybody knowuddimean? (DM me)
UPDATE - yes, many of us are of the same mind. Will submit on Easter Sunday if nothing more amazing occurs to me!

Great puzzle, Matt.
Other bird-related ex temporania: Was hitting the golfs, yesterday, on one of our county courses. They use blue bird boxes as 150 yards-to-green markers & this course was also along a large lake. The geese & blue birds were in full Spring mode, doing their dances of display / battles of dominance. A friend missed a gimme birdie (natch) putt, due to geese splashing a dozen yards away, & I toe-wedged a drive away from a bluebird house, which resembled a Big Bang Theory inter-scene atom, due to the horde of males dive-bombing for attention.

In an Easter miracle, I actually remembered to wait until today to submit and then remembered (Ok, was reminded by my calendar app) to submit this morning.
I missed Matt’s Easter morning update though, so probably won’t be sure I’ve beamed up until late today after all eggs are found, baskets unpacked, etc, etc.
I was quite confident Friday afternoon. Two days to second guess myself plus see 25 wrong submissions and wonder what they could be is… not good. But really, that has to be it, doesn’t it.

If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.
(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

Beam me up egg-cellently!
If you are still thinking and deliberating, remember not to overthink! this was definitely a light week 3.

Submitted, and thanks to everyone for indicating it was on the easier side. I definitely had some “Am I missing another step or 2?” moments with this one. Fingers crossed that I did indeed take it to the end.
ETA - on the board!

The Brits refer to someone who engages in a lot of idle chatter as this bird.Bird Lives wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 9:10 am

Looks like Matt found time for one more morning update, so I've now officially joined the 'all achievements except for 1-across (which I'll never get)" club.

Phew! Long wait for an update. But hey, makes sense given kids, Easter, and all that. But I'm on the board. Got the Egg-cellent, too.
Yeah, I'll never be the one to get 1-Across either.
Hope I get access in Europe next week. Yeah, I'm on vacation. But it's the MGWCC! Can't miss a week!

Beamed, and down to two achievable badges left (never going to get 1-across). Guess maybe next time I should submit within 5 minutes of the deadline and then send Matt a note about how grateful I was for the rush of excitement I experienced while trying to time it properly.
Thanks to a friendly muggle for reassuring me that I was on the right path, if not quite at the end.
Impressed that 82 different users have earned the 1-across badge.

Beamed up today after waiting from Friday because of Easter reminder from others here (good thing I checked first). Lucked out in avoiding rabbit holes, as it's a busy weekend/week.

These birds tormented our dogs when I was a kid. They seemed very smart to me.woozy wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 11:21 amLibel!Bird Lives wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 9:10 amThis confirms what little I know. My entire knowledge of this XXX-rated bird comes from a song we sang at camp in the Adirondacks when I was seven. I remember almost all the words. It’s a round.

XXXXXX are among the most intelligent birds there are. They are very closely related to crows, after all.
(I'm always a little surprised when people aren't as into them as I am....)

For what it's worth, I thought this one may have been an easy 3 but it was certainly a 3 and not a 1 or 2. 1s are all but spelled out for you, and 2s are... well twos are easier... I thought this one was harder than last weeks.
Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

Thankfully, I do have the 1-Across achievement, but having forgotten that this was the meta needed to get the Eggs-cellent achievement, now I have to wait a full year to wrap everything up... and that could change if Matt adds another achievement. And if he follows up with his plan to stop at MGWCC #1000, there are only about 5 more chances to get the Eggs-cellent badge. So has anyone gotten the "grand slam" yet? Is there a way to check?

So I thought I solved this yesterday, but decided to wait for the Easter badge. Today I noticed something else and now am doubting my solution.

If by 'grand slam' you mean completed all the achievements, it appears that at least Peter Gordon has done so. I stopped checking after that.Al Sisti wrote: ↑Sun Apr 17, 2022 2:34 pm Thankfully, I do have the 1-Across achievement, but having forgotten that this was the meta needed to get the Eggs-cellent achievement, now I have to wait a full year to wrap everything up... and that could change if Matt adds another achievement. I beamed up earlier this morning after two days of staring at this puzzle. The answer actually came to me last night as I was falling asleep. I don’t know whether I would call this a week 2 or a week 3, but I will call it a SAD meta based on my lack of knowledge of the subject.
