Was anyone else helped by the Friday’s NYT Wordle which was SNOUT? I had the S_OUT in 2 but had to go through SHOUT, SPOUT and SCOUT to get it. Then I went back to the crossword and saw struckout and it all fell into place.

And for those who had swap without using the synonyms, I explained how I got swap to my lovely and brilliant wife to which she responded that there must be something else in the grid to support it. I went back to the drawing board and sure enough…

Late on responding to this one. SWAP was my first guess based on the title and prompt but I couldn't figure out a way to get it out of the grid! I got bogged down focusing on the entries that had clues starting with or containing "in."
