#719 - “Something’s Brewing”

An excellent puzzle written by one of the innovators of the meta crossword format. It comes out every Friday at noon and increases in difficulty throughout the month. Available for modest subscription (worth every cent) here: www.xwordcontest.com

I actually saw what was going on while doing the fill -- hooray! Barbara K and I will be hosting a Zoom group solve for the WSJ puzzle at 4:30 p.m. EST today (March 11). All are welcome whether you've solved it or not.
Good luck, fellow Muggles!

Nice true Week 1 meta. Amazing construction as always. I particularly liked the grid, especially 109A. Now I’ll be singing that in my head all afternoon!

I’m happy to get this and the WSJ easily this week after struggling last week. I needed the confidence boost!
Overthinking is my super power. 8-)

I was too chicken to submit when I was 1/3 through, but I still ended up with the same answer which I submitted. Here's hoping I get beamed up.

Great use of a huge grid. The PDF print was so tiny I did the .puz. Saw the meta despite being out of my usual pencil and paper element.

Ah, well, I wait to look at the WSJ Friday metapuzzle until I Zoom with my 2 kids later on Friday evenings. So I won't attend.

Have I been tempted to solve the puzzle without them and then pretend that I'm filling in the grid and searching for the meta when I'm on with them....? Nooooo.

Okay, maybe "tempted"....

Loved the visual elements here. On my second brew (neither of which are the meta answer, but all are Friday-worthy).
If you see that I’ve completed the MGWCC meta, feel free to DM me and I’ll help you out - nudges, confirmations of paths, etc.

Beam me up, Matty! Excellent grid, with some fun clues, too.
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

A busy workday meant that I didn't get to this until a short while ago, but I believe I'm beamed up!

Edit: #356, possibly my lowest (highest?) leaderboard position to date! (IMO there should be an achievement badge for a number greater than, say, 400.) My current streak is at 16 which also might be my longest so far, I expect one of the next two puzzles to break it :-)
