THIS WEEK’S INSTRUCTIONS:

No instructions given on the site this week since solvers have a no-instructions option, so that would be spoilery.

MGWCC #718 -- Erratum
At 22-D in today's puzzle, the word "or" should read "and".

Not meta-related! Just an error. Carry on!

#2 on the board (though admittedly I didn't use either the no instructions or downs-only mode, and feel a bit guilty about that). Too much going on to have my week 1 solve take longer than necessary.

I just recently joined. I think I got this one, but I'm not sure. How often is the leaderboard updated?

On Friday afternoons, pretty regularly, unless Matt or Ada is sick. As it gets further past the contest opening, every hour or two.

I think his sense of scale is off. Not a week one. More like a week 3 in a month of 5 or a week 2.5 in a week of 4. But definitely on the other side of the ides (but just.... just the teensiest harder than average puzzle; but certainly harder than average-- not easier).

Brilliantly original and clever construction though!

(There I am at #45......)
Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

Last week on Sunday there was a wait of over 5 hours. That was an extreme and more than reasonable if this is done by hand (which it must be but utterly astounds me that/if it is). On friday it it should take less than15 minutes. I'm up and I only submitted about 17 minutes ago.

I went Downs Only, No Instructions. I thought I'd check the instructions before submitting just to make sure, but I threw caution to the winds and risked my badge. And five minutes later, I had my answer. And two minutes ahead of oldjudge.

Waiting for the refresh, but it seemed really straight-forward.

And really fun!

Edit: Beamed up at #78.

Probably took a little longer than it should have. Got stuck in a rabbit hole for a bit.

Energize!

Beam me up!
Definitely a potential SAD meta. How on earth does a person construct this?
Potential page one here and under 100 on the leaderboard. BUT, I missed the refresh by one minute so I will need to wait.

EDIT: Update - In at 91!

Another amazing construction! The next time Matt grants us an interview this one seems like a good candidate to discuss how he did it.

Beamed up! I was afraid for a minute that I was going to lose my tiny streak to a Week 1.
