I love Octordle Rescue. It's my favorite. It's definitely winnable; it just takes more care and planning.
I initially assumed they were giving us randomly generated guesses. But after winning 11 of the 12 games I've played, I now think they are curating either the guesses or the answer words so that there is usually a good chance for a path to a win.

Definitely a different take. I've gotten an eight every time so far, but I can see where you can get in trouble if you go after the wrong word.mkmf wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 12:43 pm I love Octordle Rescue. It's my favorite. It's definitely winnable; it just takes more care and planning.

Hmmm... Score of 8 whether I got it in 8 entries or 9. Must be how many you get, and doesn't take into account how few entries you need.DBMiller wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 1:40 pmDefinitely a different take. I know what you mean. When I win without needing to use that extra ninth guess, it's cool. It would be nice for the stats page to keep track of it.
BTW, I'm leaning again to thinking that the given guesses are just random. If anything, maybe there is a filter on how few and how many unique letters are in the four guesses. There seems to be a sweet spot. Fewer than 12, it seems to get tricky. I haven't noticed a set with more than 15 unique letters, but I can imagine it would become harder as it approaches 20.
For fun I tried typing the Octordle rescue guesses into two Quordle daily practice games. The first one was solvable in 5; the second one in 4 (after using scratch paper to add in the info gleaned in game 1). So this leads me to think that the rescue answers maybe aren't matched with the rescue guesses to (usually) usually a path to a win after all.

@DBMiller
I noticed that Octordle Rescue is now giving folks an extra point for winning in 8 guesses. It shows up in the stats as having "9 successful words." That works for me. Thanks, Octordle!

I've seen femme used in English as a description of some lesbians. Haven't seen it in decades though, so either I don't get out much or it's fallen out of use. (Hope it's not offensive; I'm trusting that the wordle dictionary would not include it if it were.)
If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.
(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

I used to do that, but found it more of a challenge to get a low number than to almost always solve it after the first three eliminated many possibilities.
I currently start with one of SAINT/STAIN/SATIN, and if it's a complete swing and a miss, I try ROUGE/ROGUE. Today worked out and I made all the right guesses after that.
