Rhyme Scheme - February 2022

A monthly, music-themed meta crossword published at noon on the first Tuesday of every month. The puzzles increase in difficulty each month, and at year end there is a 13th puzzle (the "Mega-Meta") that invokes each of the 12 monthly puzzles. Currently available at https://pmxwords.com/, as well as through the Washington Post website here: MMMM at WaPo

The meta is a famous band.

On the board, but absolutely nothing on the mega-meta. Yet.

Well, I made that a lot harder than it needed to be… but on the board.

I'm on the board at #10. I struggled significantly with the January meta, so it was a relief to have gotten this one right away.

I've tried to no avail to make "dropped a dime in the jukebox" a thing. :) The monthly-ness of this puzzle may make a solving catchphrase more difficult?

I've dropped a dime in the jukebox! It was reassuring that I knew 1A in a Pete puzzle.

And way to go, @Hector at 12:02pm! I'd love to know how much of the grid you did before submitting.
If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.

(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

Hey, I have an idea of the (probably) red herring mechanism! Too soon to tell though.

On the board. Enjoyed this one. Pete writes great metas overall, but I think he stands out by making his easy metas unique and elegant.

Wait, there are 5 people who have 7 total points on the year… Red herrings, already? Wow, very impressive!
If you see that I’ve completed the MGWCC meta, feel free to DM me and I’ll help you out - nudges, confirmations of paths, etc.

On the board. Haven't finished the grid yet. :-)
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

More now - the red herring seems to be crumbling early this year.
