Just a Number - January 2022

A monthly, music-themed meta crossword published at noon on the first Tuesday of every month. The puzzles increase in difficulty each month, and at year end there is a 13th puzzle (the "Mega-Meta") that invokes each of the 12 monthly puzzles. Currently available at https://pmxwords.com/, as well as through the Washington Post website here: MMMM at WaPo

Batting 1000 for the year so far. But no idea on the mega-meta, yet ;)

I submitted what I thought was an easy answer but learned it's not correct. Emailed my work to see if my alternate answer will be accepted.

Congratulations to those who were correct!

BTW: This is delicious! (click on it to rate it...)

On the board. Joes post had me worried as I stumbled on a similar meta last year.

Sorry to hear about the rough start!

I think I learned my lesson about not rushing to submit on these last year when I sent in "Unite" instead of "Come Together". I think of it as my "Grilled Cheese" moment.

Hmmm... Grid done without too much trouble. But not getting the meta yet. See "the obvious," which initially lead to gibberish. Have AN answer, but it's not a 100%'er. So will mull over for awhile.

Likewise. See the "obvious" with resulting gibberish. No answer yet.

Awaiting leaderboard update but I think I have it. Outside of my "land of the obvious" wheelhouse, until it was inside it. Huh?

...and the dime has been dropped in the jukebox.

Yikes. I thought January was supposed to be easy. I guess I am in a 3D - I couldn't see the answer to the WSJ either.
Oh well, lots of time to ponder it.

EDIT: DOH!!! Got it now.

I did that, too! "UNITE"-ers, unite!

and @Joe Ross :crossed_fingers: for alternate acceptance.

Congrats to Joe (and one other solver so far) for finding a valid, completely unintentional, alternate solution to the first MMMM of the year.

For Muggles who would like an additional challenge, see if you can find it!

When I saw the title and the prompt, I had a guess what the answer would be. Wish I'd been brave enough to just go ahead and submit it; turns out I was right.

Now, an alternate answer - how intriguing!
