Hi all and welcome to the fifty-fourth installment of the MEOW!

The answer this week is something exceptional.

Just a kitten, but hopefully still a fluffy one.

I believe you're right, David -- should be D not A. Sorry about that.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch --

I’ve submitted my cat answer. The cat feels pretty sure that it’s not in the bag any longer, but you never know with cats.
Confirmed.

It seems I have released two different prompts by mistake. Either one fits so it doesn't matter which one you have. And sorry for the typo

(Seems I underestimated the difficulty as well but I blame that on Whimsy being so smart)

so.... my slump has gotten so bad I can't even do kittens.... I'm depressed now....

Edit: ... oh, wait.... (It's worth a shot)....
Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

I've got a guess, but if I'm right this is a meta-meta.

Edit: My answer was confirmed..... confirmed to be wrong, but confirmed none the less....

Sometimes the kitten just wants to stay in the bag and keep looking... Josh, YOU are EXCEPTIONAL! Thanks for doing what you do! ;)

With a nudge I have it. I love most of Josh’s puzzles, but not this one. Interesting idea though.

The bag looks empty of cat!

Awaiting confirmation, but fairly confident.

I got step 1, and maybe that's all the steps there are? But I'm still not sure what the answer is.

The cat is out of the bag and belled. With a nudge.

It took two tries.

Grid done and what seems to be the obvious start to mechanism identified, circled, color-coded, scribbled…. But what I have does not make a word, in this language anyway…

It's not that there's only one step. It's that there has to be another one step. So that makes two ;)

The cat is free! I think I snuck through on a technicality.
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!
